İyileşme dönemindeki alkolikleri anlamak: Adsız Alkolikler'in söylemlerinin işaret ettiği motivasyon unsurları

Abstract

Bu araştırmanın amacı, kendi kendine yardım grupları içerisinde yer alan Adsız Alkolikler (AA) gruplarına katılan ve iyileşme döneminde olan alkol bağımlısı bireylerin dillendirdikleri motivasyon/demotivasyon unsurlarını anlamaktır. Alkol bağımlılığı ve buna bağlı yaşanan sağlık sorunları tüm dünyada giderek artmaktadır. Alkol bağımlılığı kronik bir rahatsızlıktır ve birey tedavi olsa dahi tekrar alkol tüketebilmektedir. Nüks süreçleri ile ilerleyen alkol bağımlılığının tedavisinde bireyin motivasyonunun sağlanması önem arz etmektedir. İyileşme sürecinde olan bireylerin nüks yaşamamalarındaki motivasyonları derinlemesine anlayabilmek için bu çalışma nitel araştırma yöntemi ile yapılmıştır. Bu çalışma çerçevesinde araştırmacı, 11 üyesi olan Tekirdağ ve 8 üyesi olan İstanbul Bakırköy AA gruplarının haftalık toplantılarına gözlemci olarak katılmış ve Tekirdağ grubundan 8, Bakırköy grubundan ise 4 kişi olmak üzere toplamda 12 kişi ile birebir görüşme yapmıştır. Araştırmanın veri toplama araçları olarak, araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen "Sosyodemografik Bilgi Formu" ve 12 adet açık uçlu sorudan oluşan "Görüşme Formu" kullanılmıştır. Demografik Formu tüm katılımcılar doldurmuş, Görüşme Formu sadece birebir görüşmelerde kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen veriler tematik analiz yöntemi ile analiz edilmiştir. Bu bağlamda araştırmanın kendisi araştırmacılara bulunması hedeflenen ayıklık sürecine dair motivasyon unsurları, destekleyici ve zorlayıcı faktörlerden fazlasını vermiştir. Bu çalışma sonucunda 6 ana başlık ve bunlara ait alt temalar elde edilmiştir, bu başlıklar şu şekildedir: "İçki İçmeye Başlamaya Dair Motivasyon", "İçki İçmeye Devam Etmeye Dair Motivasyon", "İçkiyi Bırakmaya Dair Motivasyon", "Ayıklığa Dair Motivasyon", "Ayıklığı Destekleyen Unsurlar", "Ayıklığı Zorlayan Unsurlar." Bu unsurlar literatür ışığında bir arada değerlendirildiklerinde, alkolizmin tüm evrelerinde motive ve demotive eden faktörlerin, benlik kavramı etrafında toplandığı görülmüştür. Bu da alkolizmin tedavisinde benlik kavramının ele alınması gerektiğine işaret etmektedir. Bu çalışmada bulunan bulguların, alkol bağımlılığından muzdarip bireylerin tedavisinde kullanılan yöntemlere katkısı olacağı düşünülmektedir. Bu araştırma, Adsız Alkolikler ile yürütülmesi, ayıklık sürecindeki motivasyon/demotivasyon unsurlarının araştırılması ve nitel araştırma yöntemi ile yapılması bakımından özgündür.The purpose of the research is to comprehend the motivation/demotivation factors which are given voice by the alcohol addicted individuals in their recovery period and who are participated to Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) which is a self-supporting relief organization. Alcohol addiction and the related health problems are increasing gradually throughout the world. Alcohol addiction is a chronic disease and the individual may consume alcohol even after the treatment. Providing the individuals motivation is very important for the treatment of the alcohol addiction which has a recurrent progression. Therefore, this study is made by the consensual qualitative research method in order to throughly understand the motivations of the individuals who do not experience a recurrent in their recovery period. Within the scope of the research, the researcher has participated as an observer in the weekly meetings of the Tekirdağ AA with 11 members and Istanbul Bakırköy AA with 8 members and has interviewed one on one with 12 people in total as 8 people from the Tekirdağ group and 4 people from the Bakırköy Group. A "Sociodemographic Data Form" and "An Interview Form" consisting of 12 open-ended question which are developed by the researcher are used as a data collection tool. The demographic form is filled out by all the participants where the interview form is only used in one to one interview. The data obtained is analyzed by the thematic analysis method. Within this context, the research itself has provided more information than expected about the targeted motivation factors, supportive and challenging factors about the sobriety period. As a result of this study, 6 major topics and relative sub themes are obtained, which are: "The motivation to start drinking alcohol", "The motivation to continue drinking alcohol", "The motivation to quit drinking alcohol", "The motivation about sobriety", "The factors to support the sobriety", "The factors to challenge the sobriety". When these factors are evaluated together in the light of the literature, the motivating and demotivating factors are found to be gathered around self-concept throughout all phases of alcoholism. Therefore, this result indicates that the self-concept should be considered during the treatment of alcoholism. The findings in research are considered to contribute the methods that are used for the treatment of the individuals who are suffering from alcohol addiction. This research is unique in terms of researching of the motivation/demotivation factors in the sobriety period, developing with the Alcoholics Anonymous and using consensual qualitative research method.
