Hemşirelik öğrencilerinin hastane atıklarının yönetimine ilişkin bilgi düzeyleri

Abstract

AMAÇ: Araştırma, eğitimlerinin büyük bir bölümünü uy-gulamada geçiren ve atık ayrıştırılmasında etkin görev alan hemşirelik öğrencilerinin bilgi düzeylerinin belirlen-mesi amacıyla gerçekleştirildi. GEREÇ VE YÖNTEM: Araştırma bir vakıf üniversitesinin hemşirelik bölümünde okuyan, klinik uygulama deneyi-mi olan ve araştırmaya katılmaya gönüllü 195 öğrenciyle tanımlayıcı olarak yapıldı. Verilerin toplanmasında birey-sel özelliklerin belirlenmesine yönelik 8 adet açık uçlu soru ve hastane atık yönetimine yönelik 20 adet çoktan seçmeli sorudan oluşan bilgi formu kullanıldı. Verilerin analizi SPSS 21 paket programında sıklık, yüzde, Mann Whitney-U ve Krusskal Wallis testleri ile yapıldı. BULGULAR: Araştırmada öğrencilerin yaş ortalamasının 20,6±1,49 olduğu, %93,8’inin kadın ve %46,1’inin 2.sınıf-ta eğitim gördüğü, tamamına yakınının devlet ya da özel hastanede klinik uygulama yaptığı saptandı. Öğrenci-lerin %91,1’inin hastane atık yönetimine yönelik eğitim aldığı belirlenirken, bu eğitimi %72,8’inin hemşirelerden, %63,1’i eğiticilerden ve %72,3’ünün klinik uyum eğitim-lerinden aldığı belirlendi. Öğrencilerin hastane atık yöne-timine yönelik bilgi formundan aldıkları toplam ortalama puanları 12,91±2,66 olarak belirlenmiş olup 2. sınıfta öğ-renim gören öğrencilerin en yüksek puana sahip olduğu (12,57±2,38) saptandı. Yaş (p=0,002), cinsiyet (p=0,006) ve sınıf (p=0,028) özellikleri açısından bilgi sıralamaların-da istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir farklılık görülürken, di-ğer bireysel özelliklere göre anlamlı bir farklılık olmadığı saptandı. SONUÇ: Araştırmamızdan elde edilen sonuçlar doğrultu-sunda; öğrencilerin çoğunluğunun atık yönetimi konu-sunda eğitim aldığı, hastane atık yönetimine yönelik bilgi düzeylerinin orta düzeyde olduğu ve üst sınıflara doğru bilgi düzeylerinin azaldığı belirlenmiştir. Bu bağlamda öğrencilerin bilgi düzeylerini arttırmak üzere eğitimle-rin tüm sınıflarda sürdürülmesi, uygulama alanlarında gözlemlenmesi ve ara değerlendirmelerle bu durumun saptanmasına yönelik aktivitelerin planlanması öneril-mektedir.OBJECTIVE: The study was conducted on the purpose of determining the level of knowledge about waste mana-gement of nursing students who spend the large part of the education period on clinical practice and take charge about waste parsing efficiently. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The descriptive study was conducted with 195 students who were from the nur-sing department in a private university, the experience was for a clinical practice and the students accepted to participate in this study voluntarily. The information form which included 8 open-ended questions for determining individuals characteristics and 20 multiple choice ques-tions for determining hospital waste management was used to collect data. Frequency , percentage, chi-square, Mann-Whitney U and Kruskall Wallis tests were used to analyze the results. RESULTS: When the students characteristics were exa-mined, it was found that their average age were (was) 20.6±1.49, 93.8% were females and 46.1% had the 2nd-grade education. Almost all the students were de-termined to have experience in clinical practice whet-her in state and (or) private hospitals. While 91.1% of the students stated that they had received a hospital trai-ning from nurses, 63.1% an educator, 72.3% from clinical adaptation training while it was determined that the to-tal average score was obtained from the information qu-estions was 12.91±2.66. The students who had education in 2nd grade, had the highest score(12.57±2.38) While statistically a significant difference was found according to the age (p=0.002), gender(p=0.006), and the educati-on grade (p=0,028), No significant difference was found according to the other characteristics. CONCLUSIONS: Based on the results which were obtai-ned on (from) our research, it is determined that most of the students received education on waste management , the knowledge level of waste management was inter-mediate and the knowledge level was decreased towards upper classes. In this context, with intent to increase the knowledge level of the students, it is suggested to main-tain all education in every classes, to observe in applica-tion areas and to plan activities for determination of the situation.
